Apple Spinach & Broccoli Puree
This simple combination puree is a great way to serve baby two different green vegetables – spinach and broccoli.
Nutritional Information
- Good source of fiber, which benefits heart health and digestion. The pectin in apples is a prebiotic, which is the food probiotics, or good bacteria in the gut, feed on. The soluble fiber apples contain helps with cholesterol levels.
- Helps with hydration due to their high water content.
- Good source of vitamin C, which helps with immunity.
Apple Spinach & Broccoli Puree

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients
- 3 apples, cored, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup packed spinach

Cook: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 inches of water to a boil. In a steamer basket, add the apples and broccoli, place the basket over boiling water, and cover. Steam for 7 minutes. Add spinach on top of the apples and broccoli, cover, and steam for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Reserve steamer water.

Blend: Transfer all ingredients to a blender or food processor and puree on high for 1-2 minutes. Add the reserved steamer water, fresh breast milk or fresh formula, in 1/4 cup increments, to get the puree to the right consistency. I had to add 1/4 cup of water to the puree above.
- Serve or store for another meal.
Notes
Age: 7 months+
Adding in Spice: feel free to add in a pinch of chives, hemp hearts, lemon zest or a drizzle of coconut or olive oil to the puree while blending.
Yield: roughly 18 ounces
Storage: Fridge – store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freezer – can be frozen for up to 4 months.
