Broccoli Spinach & Rice Puree with Chives
This combination puree is made with rice, spinach, and broccoli and makes for a delicious puree for your baby!
Nutritional Information
- Whole grain rices, like brown rice and wild rice, will be higher in fiber and vitamins and minerals, like iron, B vitamins and magnesium.
- White rice will not have much fiber or as many vitamins and minerals, unless it has been enriched, which just means nutrients have been added back. Read the label to find out if it has been enriched.
- The fiber found in broccoli promotes gut health and heart health.
- It helps support your immune system with the help of vitamin C.
Broccoli Spinach & Rice Puree with Chives
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Age: 7+ months
Ingredients
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1-2 tsp chives, roughly chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Steam: In a medium saucepan, bring 2″ of water to a boil over medium heat. In a steamer basket, add in the broccoli and steam for 7-8 minutes. Then add in the spinach, and steam for an additional 3-5 minutes. Reserve steamer water. Let cool slightly.

Blend: Add the rice, broccoli, and spinach to a blender or food processor and puree for 1 minute or until you have achieved the desired texture. If the puree is too thick, add in 1/4 cup of the reserved steamer water until you have the right consistency.

Serve: let cool and serve to your baby or freeze for a later meal.
