Cinnamon Pear Waffles

An easy freezer-friendly waffles recipe filled with warm spices and pear! Great for a healthy breakfast, snack or packed in a school lunch.

There are tons of varieties of pears, and all are nutritious, so offer different types to give your baby different tastes and textures. 

  • Good source of immune-boosting vitamin C. 
  • Great source of fiber, to help with digestion and improves constipation.
  • Provide vitamin K to help strengthen bones.

Cinnamon Pear Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour - all-purpose, white whole wheat, gluten-free blend, mix of whole wheat and white wheat
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk - regular or any plain plant-based milk
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or olive or avocado oil
  • 1 pear, grated or finely chopped
 

Instructions

  1. Prep: preheat a waffle iron. 
  2. Mix Ingredients: in a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt. Add in the egg, milk, maple syrup, and butter and stir until just incorporated. 
  3. Add Pears: add in the pears and gently fold the ingredients together. 
  4. Make Waffles: scoop the batter into your waffle maker and cook accordingly to your waffle maker's directions. My waffle maker cooked these for 3 minutes. 
  5. Serve: let cool and serve with a side of yogurt to dip the waffles in, a drizzle of maple syrup, or a smear of nut butter on top. 

 

Notes 

Age: 9+ months

Storage: can be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
